Dominion Rising

Available in ebook on KoboApple, Barnes and Noble, Google Play! Available on Amazon soon.

23 New Novels by A Whole Slew of Authors, including me!

Half Science Fiction and Half Fantasy and All Awesome.

I went way out of my norm for this one. A reader challenged me to find a way to make vampires real like I did with zombies.

Challenge accepted!

I really love the way this book turned out and it will be exclusive to Dominion Rising for a long while, so that one really good reason to buy it! (Plus, it’s cheaper than just one book to get all 23 new books!)

Here’s the blurb:

When a legendary vampire rises and inhabits the body of a young girl, the entire vampire world is thrown into chaos. The Guardians protect humanity and keep the vampire civilization in check, but nothing has prepared them for this half-mythical ancient who believes she’s a goddess. Angry and vengeful, she’s a force to be feared. Girard and the Guardians are in a race against time to save humanity…and vampires…from the diabolical plans of the risen queen.

Robot Evolution

Available in ebook on Amazon! Available in print everywhere.

Welcome to the World of Perfect Partners, Incorporated!

Step into the world of sentient androids. Humans no longer have to woo a human mate or wait for that perfect match…they simply order their heart’s desire and live life to the fullest. Called PePrs – say it like pepper, the spice – they have become indispensable to humanity. They do the jobs we don’t want to do, act as our windows to the wider world, fill all our social needs, and have become the expressions of our collective will. From the battlefield to the dog pound, from our perfect mate to the nanny that cares for our children…almost every task can now be done by a PePr, leaving humans to explore a life free of drudgery.

It sounds perfect. Then again, things that start perfect don’t usually stay that way.

Each of the novellas in this volume is a stand alone work. There are no cliff-hangers, but there might be tears, gasps, and smiles. Who will you root for? Human or PePr…choose your side!

Includes: Corrections, Imperfect, The Dogcatcher, PePr, Inc., and Posthumous

NOTE: I originally published each novella as they came out, but took them down when Robot Evolution was ready. There were more reviews on the individual books than currently on Robot Evolution, so if you do read it, will you do me a huge favor and leave a review?

Also, *fair warning,* don’t read Posthumous when you have to be in public or on your lunch break. I got some emails from folks trapped in their cars having snot-fests of weeping. You’ve been warned!

Available in ebook on Amazon! Available in print everywhere.

Ella is an excellent private investigator and she’s got one heck of a case on her hands. PePrs are disappearing, falling completely off the grid with no way to recover them. The number of disappearances has grown so high that disturbing rumors are beginning to circulate. The worst one for the humans is that the underground has finally reached the city. The very notion of escaping PePrs, left to their own devices, and quite possibly looking for payback against their less-than-kind owners, is making the humans jumpy.

And that makes those humans willing to hand over a very big paycheck if Ella can find the underground. More if she can break the system that is funneling all that sentient property out of the city. Ella’s boss is eager for that paycheck, but when he calls her into the office one day to give her the worst news possible, she’s no longer sure which side she should be working for.

As Ella and her new trainee – a sex-bot reject with no sense whatsoever—scour the city and follow a tantalizing trail of clues, everything she thought she knew about the world is called into question. If she’s not careful, it could also mean the end of her existence…or an entirely new beginning.

The Ways We End: Six Tales of Doom

Available on Amazon in ebook, everywhere in paperback.

Dark Collections – Volume One

The End. Those two little words can mean so much. But how will things end…and will it hurt? That’s what we really want to know.

Delve into the darkness and join us at the end of the world. From a blighted sky to an invasion from beyond, from untethered time to one person driven beyond the edge of sanity, from a child’s game to an unseen apocalypse…it’s all imagined here, and imagined darkly.

Inside The Ways We End is a combination of new stories and previously published anthology tales, now re-imagined without word limits, including Cottage of Hunger, The Mergens, The Mountains of Five, The Bridge, Rock or Shell, and A Mother So Beautiful.

This book is a work from my heart…as in my dark heart! Each of these tales would be classified as dark fiction and I think they’re rather delicious.

And Then Begin Again: Six Tales of Hope

Available at Amazon in ebook, everywhere in paperback.

Dark Collections – Volume Two

What happens after the end? A new beginning. All we can do is hope we’re there for the start of what comes next.

In And Then Begin Again, there is light at the end of the tunnel. There is hope at the end of the long darkness. Not everyone will see it, but then again, not everyone should see it. From the most unlikely superhero to an alternate timeline, from a school where things aren’t quite as they seem to a new world on the brink of disaster, from a man who cheats time to the last survivor of a space disaster…it’s all imagined here, and there is always hope.

Inside these pages is a combination of new tales and previously published anthology stories, newly imagined without word limits, including Sedge, The Mirroring, Life/Time in the New World, Unnatural, Yankari, and Lulu Ad Infinitum.

While less dark than volume one, there’s no question that you can’t have a new beginning unless there’s an ending to bring you there. While there is love, strength, and determination in each of these stories, there is also the pain of an ending…of one sort or another. But in the end, the one thing they all share is hope, always hope.

Dark Beyond the Stars

Available on Amazon!

From humanity’s first contact with alien life, to the challenges of space travel, to colonies established light years from Earth, this anthology celebrates the wide sweep of space opera at its most sublime. Eleven of today’s bestselling authors join forces to bring you these tales of action, adventure, and brilliant imagination.

There are worlds beyond worlds out there to explore, and millions of stories spinning across the galaxies. So sit back and be transported… to the dark beyond the stars.

What’s my story?

My offering is called Lulu Ad Infinitum and here is the blurb for you.

Lulu is a copy of the original Lulu that lived on Earth in times long past. Her home is a self-replicating ship and her entire purpose to create new Earths. When a catastrophe all but destroys her ship, she’s left with only a dog for company and way too much work to do. Getting her mission back on track is going to require something more creative than just tanking up new copies of her crew-mates.

Lulu turned out to be a reader favorite! I hope you like it too.

Dark Beyond the Stars: A Planet Too Far

Available on Amazon!

On the heels of the bestselling DARK BEYOND THE STARS anthology comes another collection of spectacular tales by eleven authors both well-known and brand new.

Space opera. Big, sprawling sci-fi stories that encompass strange new worlds, alien life forms, and deep space battles. You’ll find all of that here.

Take a journey across the galaxy with these short stories and go BEYOND THE STARS to A Planet Too Far…

What’s my story?

My offering is called The Mergens and here is the blurb for you.

They are almost legend. In a galaxy as vast as ours, it’s easy to miss it when a planet or two is laid waste. After a few centuries, who’s to know what caused it, though there are always dark rumors. Are the Mergens bringers of justice or fanatics? Pirates or rescuers? The answer depends on who is asked.

To those who see the dark round shapes appearing in their sky, they are not legend or mere rumor. They are harbingers of the end.

I’ll be the first to admit that this is a dark story, as in deep dark pit down at the bottom of the ocean where nothing grows eyes anymore. It was also called out as a favorite of many readers, which delights me! Currently, I’m expanding this story slightly for inclusion in the upcoming volume, The Ways We End. Sort of fitting, wouldn’t you say?

Alt.History 101

Available in ebook on Amazon! In print, everywhere.

This is the first volume in the spin-off series to The Future Chronicles and is…alternate history. Way outside my wheelhouse but enormous fun to write in. The stories inside are amazing. My humble offering is called Unnatural.

What is Pope John Paul the First hadn’t died after only a month in office? The world was waiting for the Papal opinion on the birth of the first test tube baby when this pope stepped into office. Instead of delivering that opinion, he died. How might our world be different had this kindly man decided something different than what the next pope did?

I’m also updating and slightly expanding this tale for inclusion in the upcoming volume, And Then Begin Again. I can’t say enough how much fun I had doing something so completely different!

The Z Chronicles

Available in ebook on Amazon! In print, everywhere.

Vindica is a doomsday shelter for those who can afford the very best. Like the slogan says, ‘Luxury at the End of the World.’ Gordon could barely afford a shared room inside and he hasn’t quite finished paying off his berth. When the worst happens, he makes it to Vindica just in time…but there’s more than one way to pay off the price of safety.

I was extremely honored to receive “first story” placement inside these pages and I think that means the story really worked. It’s actually Violet’s origin story (from the Between Life and Death series) but it stands completely on its own also.

The Robot Chronicles

Available on Amazon!

Yet again, some incredible authors invited me into their midst for a volume of science fiction filled with lots of robot goodness!

Robots make our current world go ’round. They put together our cars, our computers and even create our food. They take many shapes and forms, but one thing they all have in common is that they are used by us to our benefit. The future of the robot is wide open…and occasionally scary.

What’s my story?

My offering is called PePr, Inc. and here is the blurb for you.

We’re living in a busy time, with busy lives and never enough minutes in the day to get things done. To have a robot—one so advanced that it is almost human, programmed to understand our wishes and needs—is a dream many busy people might share. But what about taking that one step further? What about building a relationship with a robot custom-designed for perfect compatibility? How human is too human?

Of note, many readers contacted me about PePr, Inc., saying that they’d love to see it expanded into a series. So, I did! The Perfect Partners, Inc. series of novellas came from this short story and the first five are collected in Robot Evolution.

The Future Chronicles – Special Edition

Available in ebook on Amazon! Available in print everywhere.

The Future Chronicles – Special Edition includes fifteen stories, selected and new, from some of today’s best writers in speculative fiction.

It includes ten selected stories from some of the Chronicles‘ popular titles – Robot, Telepath, Alien, and A.I. – to give new readers a taste of the series; and includes five completely new stories, first published in this Special Edition.

This edition has a reprint of PePr, Inc. That should tell you how much folks liked it! Honestly, I love that one. So hard.

I do believe this volume, which is meant as an inexpensive way to get started on the Chronicles series, will always be just $0.99 in the U.S. So, that’s a great price and well worth it.

The Doomsday Chronicles

Available in ebook on Amazon! Available in print everywhere.

Doomsday. The end of the world as we know it. Some say it will end in fire, some say in ice. Some say it will end with a bang, some with a whimper.

In this title in the acclaimed Future Chronicles series of speculative fiction anthologies created by award-winning author Samuel Peralta, fifteen authors confront the Apocalypse, the end of days, the undiscovered country from which no traveler returns.

The Doomsday Chronicles features stories by Hugo, Nebula and World Fantasy award-winning and bestselling authors Ken Liu (the Dandelion Dynasty series), Seanan McGuire (the InCryptid series), plus thirteen more of today’s top authors in speculative and science fiction.

What’s my story?

Once again, I got opening billing in the volume for A Mother So Beautiful and I was so honored to get it. It is a reader favorite and probably my most deep (and dark) story yet.

Camille just wants a good relationship with her mother. That’s all. Is that too much to ask? Breaking through that cool exterior isn’t easy when all her mother wants to do is work on the cure for human violence. As their tangled relationship twists and turns, it turns out the end of the world is the only logical outcome.

This is probably my most favorite story ever (I mean, that I’ve written). I love the way it turned out. Like many of the others, this one is being slightly expanded and included in the volume, The Ways We End.

The Time Travel Chronicles

Available in ebook on Amazon! Available in print everywhere.

Time travel. Humanity has long imagined what it would be like to be able to create a time machine, what we might see if we could travel into the future, or be transported to the distant past. And what if it were possible to travel into our own, more recent past? Would we be able to change our present, or are we prisoners of predestination? Is fate what we make of it?

In this latest title in the acclaimed ‘Future Chronicles’ series of speculative fiction anthologies, fourteen authors confront the question of time travel and its consequences, exploring a landscape where past, present and future all become imaginable destinations.

“The Time Travel Chronicles” features stories by science fiction grandmaster Robert J. Sawyer (Calculating God), Amazon bestselling author Rysa Walker (the Chronos series), Best American Science Fiction notable Samuel Peralta (Faith), plus eleven more of today’s top authors in speculative and science fiction.

What’s my story?

Titled, Life/Time in the New World, it’s a twist on time travel that I’ve always been fascinated with. I mean, there’s just soooo much possible when it comes to us and time. Except, well, we just aren’t there yet.  Here’s the blurb.

Most of us want to live forever at one point or another in our lives. Aside from the simple act of living, many yearn to experience whatever great thing will happen right after we die. It hardly seems fair. Even so, rich or poor, we’re all in the same boat and we all die. Except now, there is a way. For the very rich there is a secret path, a tool, that will allow them to cheat death. Darren has just been offered his chance. Will the future be as bright as he thinks?

Like the others, this story is being expanded and slightly revised for inclusion in And Then Begin Again.

Synchronic – Thirteen Tales of Time Travel

Available on Amazon!

smallSynchronicTwelve great authors – plus me – have contributed stories with the common theme of Time travel for this anthology. Time travel doesn’t have to be cut and dried either. Temporally fluid comes to mind as another description.

So what’s my story? Here’s the current description for my story Rock or Shell:

Everyone wishes they could change something in their past once in a while. Whether it is that embarrassing comment at an office party or going back to save a life lost too soon, we all wish for the impossible at least once. When too many people are given that power and no ability to control their fleeting thoughts of change, what happens is more than chaos. It could be the end.

I feel really good about this story. It’s completely different than anything I’ve written before and let me stretch my writing arms further than I’ve done before. Aside from being a huge honor to be invited into such company, it has also been a frightfully enjoyable way to explore entirely new characters in an impossible situation.

The Powers That Be: A Superhero Collection (A Charity Anthology)

Available on Amazon!

The Powers That Be

Another great anthology from the writers in LOOW (League of Original Woolwrights or Ostrich Wranglers, whichever you prefer!) This time the charity is the Sickle Cell Clinic at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health, in honor of their care and treatment of children in need, suffering from this often overlooked disease.

Charity aside, this collection rocks! And it ain’t just filled with your standard superheros in capes saving the day either. These stories range from very deep to refreshingly buoyant, from dark to brilliantly light. And each was a joy to read (I’m not saying that about my own story, but rather, all the others).

What’s my contribution? Yankari: A Talking Earth Tale has been included here. Yankari will be included in And Then Begin Again. It’s a fun story and many readers really loved it. Except one, that is. He is, apparently, of the opinion that little girls being superheros is stupid.

Where can we find the Silo 49 prequel, The Last Republican? It is mentioned at the end of Dark til Dawn, but I can’t locate it anywhere.

    • Ann Christy says:

Hello Jess – The Last Republican is a short story that is in the anthology Wool Gathering. It’s also available for free to the VIP List. You can sign up for that (which just means you get a shout out from me when there’s something cool to say) right on the upper right part of my website.
